The Kitchen Needed One More Thing… Lights
When we finished installing the kitchen backsplash, the kitchen was already looking like a completely different space.
But something was still missing.
Lighting.
The room still had that typical builder-grade lighting situation — not enough brightness and nothing that really highlighted the work we had done. And after putting in the backsplash, it became obvious that the kitchen deserved better.
So we decided it was time to install recessed lighting and finally hang the farmhouse chandelier that had been waiting for its moment.
And let me tell you — lights make all the difference.
⸻
Installing Recessed Ceiling Lights
We chose flat recessed LED lights for the kitchen ceiling because they sit flush with the ceiling and give off a really clean, modern look.
The process started with measuring and drilling holes into the ceiling where the lights would be placed.
Once the holes were drilled, electrical wiring was run through the ceiling to each light location.
After that, the recessed lights were connected to the wiring and pushed up into the ceiling where they lock neatly into place.
The result?
Bright, even lighting across the entire kitchen.
No dark corners, no shadows — just a clean, well-lit space.
(Important note: Cowboy and his buddy have electrical experience and handled the wiring and installation.)

The Farmhouse Chandelier
With the recessed lights installed, it was finally time to hang the centerpiece.
The farmhouse chandelier with globe bulbs was exactly what the space needed to tie everything together.
Once installed above the main kitchen area, it instantly became the focal point of the room.
It adds warmth, character, and just enough farmhouse charm without overwhelming the space.

The Difference Lighting Makes
Good lighting doesn’t just brighten a room.
It highlights the work you’ve put into it.
Now the backsplash, countertops, and entire kitchen space are fully visible and the whole room feels bigger, brighter, and more finished.
Sometimes the final step in a project is the one that brings everything together — and for this kitchen, that step was lighting.

What’s Next
Now that the backsplash and lighting are complete, the full kitchen transformation reveal is coming next.
And trust me…
The before and after is a good one.
