Farmhouse Bathroom Lighting Upgrade (Before & After)

Lighting is one of the fastest ways to change the feel of a room — especially in a bathroom. Our guest bathroom still had an older builder-grade dome light and outdated vanity fixtures. They worked fine, but they didn’t exactly match the farmhouse style we’ve been slowly bringing into the space.

So we decided it was time for a simple lighting upgrade.

Builder Grade Bathroom Lighting (Before)

The original setup included a basic white ceiling dome light along with pendant-style vanity lights above the sink. Functional, yes — but not quite the vibe to match all the newest changes.

Even after adding fresh paint and some decor, the lighting still felt like it needed an update.

Choosing New Bathroom Lights

For the ceiling, we chose a modern farmhouse dome light that adds a little more character while still keeping the clean look of a flush mount fixture.

For the vanity, I found two globe options that I really liked — green glass and smoky glass. I couldn’t decide which one would look best with the space, so we actually tested both before making the final decision.

Installing the New Fixtures

Since Cowboy has electrical experience, swapping the lights was a quick project. The old dome light came down, the wiring was connected to the new fixture, and the updated dome light was installed in just a few minutes.

After that, we moved on to installing the new vanity globes.

Before committing to one style, we put up both options to see how they looked in the space. Lighting can completely change the color and feel of glass, so seeing them in place made the decision much easier.

In the end, the green globes won. They added just enough color and personality without overwhelming the room. But don't forget about those smoky ones, they're definetly sticking around the farmhouse.

Guest Bathroom Lighting (After)

Once everything was installed and the lights were turned on, the difference was immediate. The new fixtures added warmth and a more modern farmhouse feel to the space.

It’s a small change, but one that makes the entire bathroom feel more intentional.

Sometimes the simplest upgrades make the biggest difference.
